“What if ABE is not just about credentials—but about connection, opportunity, and transformation for all learners?”
Cheyenna will share her journey from student to actor, comedian, writer to highlight the importance of adult education.She is also currently developing a documentary exploring the life, art, and legacy of her late moshum and renowned Cree painter Dr. Allen Sapp, told through an intimate family perspective. Shy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Indigenous Studies and certificates in wîcêhtowin Indigenous Theatre, Computerized Business Management, and Early Childhood Education. Passionate about creating awareness around Indigenous realities, Shy uses storytelling as a form of advocacy, healing, and cultural reclamation. She continues to develop new projects rooted in Indigenous resilience, humour, and empowerment.
Bio
Cheyenna "Shy" Sapp is a Nehiyaw Iskwew (Plains Cree woman) from Little Pine First Nation, Saskatchewan, based in Treaty 6 Territory. She is an actor, stand-up comedian, and emerging writer who brings Indigenous stories to life through humour, heart, and fearless authenticity. Shy is best known for her lead role on the hit CTV sitcom “Acting Good”, which was nominated for Best Comedic Ensemble at the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards. She has toured her stand-up comedy across Canada, the United States, and Aotearoa (New Zealand), and recently performed at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival as part of the 2025 gala series. In addition to her work in television and comedy, Shy is a playwright whose original works have been developed through the Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre's New Voices Program and 25th Street Theatre, with an upcoming production scheduled for 2026.
